The term "Apostolic" means simply "of the Apostles".  The term is used to describe the historical basis of the Christian Church in its broader  context, but for  some, it means more.

For our purposes, when we refer to the Communion of Anglican Missionary Churches as an Apostolic Communion, we mean the following:

We are Historical.....deriving our faith from the faith of the earliest church fathers and returning to the faith and worship practice of the first church  founded by Jesus Himself. The description of the Church as found in the Acts of the Apostles is the guiding principle of our faith and worship. We believe that  the Church is not only one congregation or denomination, but that the Church is the Church Universal comprised of all those ascribing to and living out their  lives in the faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, sent to be the final propitiation of our sins. He lived and ministered as He declared  Himself to be...the Son of the living God. He was crucified and through His death, and our confession of faith in Him, our sins are forgiven as He is the ultimate  sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin. He was resurrected from the dead and lives eternally.
We are Episcopal....believing in the Apostolic Succession of the Holy Episcopate (the order of bishops). We ascribe to the three Holy offices (Holy  Orders) as found in the first Epistle of Saint Paul to Timothy: 1. Deacon; 2. Priest or Presbyter and 3. Bishop (or overseer).
We ascribe to the three historical Creeds of the Church..... The Apostle's Creed; the Nicene Creed; and the Athanasian Creed, also know as the  "Quicumque vult" (exact, elaborate statement on the Trinity and the Incarnation).
We are Sacramental....believing in the two Sacraments fo our Lord Jesus Christ, Holy Baptism and Holy Communion and in the five sacraments of  the Church: Holy Unction (healing prayer with annointing); Holy Matrimony, Confirmation (impartation of the Holy Spirit upon reception in the Church); Holy  Orders, and Reconcilliation of a Pentitent (confession and forgiveness of sins, but we do not believe that only an ordained clergy may administer absolution.  The Bible says that we are to confess to one another).
We are Charismatic....believing in the power of the Holy Spirit and His impartation of ministry gifts (through prayer and the laying on of hands) for the  benefit of the Body of Christ, the Church. We believe, that given the opportunity, He directs our lives, helps to solve our problems, teaches us all things,  intercedes for us even when we cannot or choose not to pray, empowers us to serve others, and more over "He is the Lord and giver of life".
